District basketball has ended for both Hornet basketball teams, with the Lometa boys securing a spot in the playoffs. The girls’ and boys’ teams struggled to find their identities throughout the season, and it resulted in tough losses.

The freshman Badger basketball team picked up a 41-32 over Burnet on Tuesday to close out a perfect district campaign at 9-0 and be crowned the district champions. Beau Patterson and Dylan Polmanteer both scored 13 points to lead the team.

The Badgers continued their undefeated run through the second half of district play in dominant fashion last Friday, beating Lago Vista on the road by 28 points. The 75-47 final was one of the highest-scoring games Lampasas has had.

The Lampasas Middle School basketball “A” teams competed at their district tournaments last week, and one team came home as the district champion. The seventh-grade “A” girls’ team won its first game of the tournament by a score of 22-14 over Marble Falls.
