Most local athletic teams had a promising start to their seasons, but the coronavirus quarantine stopped spring sports in their tracks. Others, like the Badger football and Lady Badger basketball teams, saw great seasons end with a tough draw early in the playoffs.

LHS freshman and Texas Blaze softball player Aspen Wheeler was selected for the Region 5 South Texas team after tryouts earlier this month for the USA Softball High Performance Program. This team is compromised of eighteen 16U girls from Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. She will play in Melissa, Texas, this weekend. The executive director of the UIL was in Lampasas on Monday to introduce LHS head girls’ basketball coach Mark Myers just after Myers’ 900 th career victory. Lampasas (12-2) dominated the Austin Royals homeschool team 65-16 after taking a 19-1 lead in the first quarter.
