The Badger varsity scored a season-high in a 90-60 home victory over the 6A Belton Tiger JV team on Wednesday. Lampasas and Belton each finished with 11 three-pointers, but Lampasas had the edge in the outside early on, with seven three’s in the first quarter.

The Badger freshmen (1-2) beat the Belton ninth-grade White Team 37-33 at home on Wednesday. Leading scorers: Asa White 9 Jonah Sanchez 7 Isiah Wintle 6 Bryan Chavez 5.

The Badgers tied their best start in five seasons, at 7-1, after winning all three varsity boys’ basketball games last week. Lampasas beat Thorndale on the road Thursday with seasonhigh scoring at 87-78.

The Badger junior varsity boys picked up their first win of the season on Friday, 58-32 over Burnet. Ethan Moreno led the team with 16 points.

Ace Whitehead was named District MVP after his fourth season as Badger starting quarterback, punter and placekicker. LHS head coach Troy Rogers was named Coach of the Year after leading his team to a perfect district record for the second season in a row,

Wimberley outscored the Badgers 1-0 in a varsity boys’ soccer scrimmage, the first of the season, in Lampasas on Friday. “We are so excited to be back for this crazy ’20-’21 soccer season,” LHS head coach Ryan Race said.

The Lady Badger varsity soccer team tied Killeen High School 1-1, beat Killeen Shoemaker 2-0 and lost to Killeen Ellison 3-1 in the KISD scrimmage tournament on Saturday. It was the Lady Badgers’ first action against other teams, and all the Killeen ISD schools are from a larger classification.

Hearne, a defending 2A regional qualifier, upset the previously undefeated Lady Badgers 54-46 in Hearne. The Hearne Lady Eagles “will make some noise in the playoffs,” LHS head coach Mark Myers predicted.

Lometa led 28-25 at halftime on the road against the 3A Llano Yellowjackets. But the Hornets were not able to close out the game and lost 56-45.

The Lampasas Middle School girls won all four basketball games against Jarrell on Thursday, and the LMS boys earned a victory at Jarrell and against Lometa. The Lady Badgers’ eighthgrade “A” team (3-0) was unmatched in a 57-15 win.
