Last weekend, a group of Lampasas wrestlers competed at the regional tournament in DeSoto. Ultimately, one Badger did just enough to qualify for the state competition taking place today in Houston.Kaiden Fernandez fought his way to a fourth-place finish after battling back in the consolation rounds.

Girls’ basketball falls to Salado in another close game

Once again, the Lady Badger basketball team played the district-leading Salado Lady Eagles in a competitive game, but they couldn’t do enough to completely close the gap and lost 58-51.The Lady Badgers lost the first quarter 15-10, then lost the second 1410 to head into halftime down nine points.

After another dominant district win, the Badgers now have the number-one seed of the big schools and will await the second seed big school in their bidistrict opponent before the end of the season.

Youth baseball and softball soon to get underway, registration closing

The Lampasas County Youth League Association baseball and softball season is right around the corner. The Feb. 10 registration deadline is fast approaching, and officials want as many kids as possible to come out and play.Tryouts for the season will be held Feb.
