Lady Badger basketball awards announced

Rachel Myles was named the LHS girls’ basketball Battlin’ Badger. The team’s banquet was held Monday. This season was the Lady Badgers’ fourth in a row to reach the playoffs, and coach Mark Myers earned his 900th career win. FILE PHOTO

LMS soccer wins after scoring in opening minutes

The Lampasas Middle School boys’ soccer team won again, taking the lead early Monday at Salado. Within the first three minutes of the game, Josiah Toeaina flicked a ball to Xavior Contreras, who chipped the goalkeeper for the Badgers’ first goal.

State track is Thursday

Senior Cade White is scheduled to compete on Thursday as the only Badger at the state track and field meet. White’s long jump event is at 10:45 a.m. He won regionals with a personalbest mark of 22 feet onequarter inch, which is the sixthbest seed mark of the nine state qualifiers. Derrick Warren of Jarrell and Reid Vincent of Salado tied for the best jump: 22 feet, 6.75 inches.

Tennis clinic offered this month

LHS head tennis coach Kenneth Peiser will lead a summer tennis clinic for multiple ages on May 24-27. Incoming first- through fifth-graders will meet each day from 8-9 a.m.
