The Lampasas Middle School boys’ soccer team took on district-leader Salado in action Monday, and dominated the game at home, coach Edward Gold said. LMS won 3-1.
On Monday, the Lampasas Middle School girls faced Gateway, which took a 2-0 win in the only home soccer game of the season for LMS. Playing against the wind in the first half, Lampasas was able to keep the score at 0-0.
On Tuesday, the Lampasas Middle School boys' and girls' golf teams competed at Llano River Golf Course. The boys placed third in the standings with a 196 total.
Lampasas High School senior Cade White captured second place in the long jump at the Region I-4A track and field competition, held Friday and Saturday in Lubbock. He posted a jump of 22’ 0.25” to earn the silver medal.
Leonel Caso hands off to Enrique Caso Prado in the boys’ 4x200 meter relay at the regional meet in Whitney on Friday. The Lometa Hornets advanced to finals but finished sixth, short of the top-two finish required to advance to state. Caso Prado also took a bronze medal in triple jump, and Sierra Tower’s fifth place in discus rounded out the Lometa athletes who placed. EMILY ANDRADE
The Lady Badgers will play a best-of-three bi-district series against Burkburnett, starting with a Thursday game at 6 p.m. in Brock. Game two is Friday at 6 p.m. in Stephenville. If needed, game three will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Brock. Lampasas has qualified for the playoffs seven years in a row (not counting 2020, when no playoffs were held).
Caroline White placed second in seventh-grade girls’ singles at the Gatesville Middle School tennis tournament on Saturday. “She fought to come back from being down, but lost in a tie-breaker in the finals,” coach Laina White said.
Senior bull rider Riggen Hughes received an academic scholarship and merit scholarship to attend Tarleton State University and compete for the Texans’ rodeo program. He also was accepted to the honors program and will be majoring in mechanical engineering.
Ty Allen runs the basepaths last Tuesday in a win over Glen Rose. Allen scored in both of the Badgers’ back-to-back wins over Glen Rose last week. At press time, the Badgers’ bi-district opponent, game site and location had not been determined. JEFF LOWE
