The Lady Badgers once again used a big third quarter to swing momentum in their favor on Friday night. They defeated Salado 49-36 after taking the lead with a 12-0 third-quarter run.

Austin Martin scored a career-high 25 points Wednesday night as the Badgers beat Taylor 71-54.

Including his 10-for-10 free-throw shooting, Martin helped Lampasas compensate for an injury that hampered Kyle Sims for much of the second half.

Sage Thompson earned a silver medal in the Dublin powerlifting meet on Saturday, competing in the 97-pound weight class.

Thompson had the Lady Hornets’ best finish in the meet, which was their season opener. She squatted 135, benchpressed 65 and deadlifted 165 for a 365-pound total.

Taylor’s scoring came to a grinding halt Wednesday after the girls came within three points of Lampasas in the third quarter. The Lady Badgers went on to win 49-22 fueled by a 22-0 streak that stretched into the fourth quarter.

Lampasas had a couple of rough games in the Fredericksburg girls’ soccer tournament last week.

The Lady Badgers lost 2-0 to St. Mary’s Hall on Thursday. On Friday, Lampasas faced the defending regional finalist Wimberley Lady Texans and lost 8-0.

Lampasas could not recover from a double-digit deficit in the first quarter of district basketball action against Burnet. The visiting Lady Bulldogs (4-1 in district) led 19-8 after one period and won 54-30 Tuesday night in Lampasas.
