The 2021 Riata Roundup Rodeo was held from Thursday through Saturday at the FM 580 West Sports Complex in Lampasas. Several-hundred spectators filled the seats Friday night as cowboys and cowgirls from around the state, country and even Canada competed in different rodeo competitions.

Local three-man scramble teams gathered at Hancock Park Golf Course Saturday for a oneday tournament to raise money for the Badger golf program. The afternoon event featured more than 50 teams.

Steffin McCarter, a 2015 Lampasas graduate, is shown during his career with the Texas Longhorns. McCarter finished seventh in his Olympic heat after jumping 7.92 meters, or 25.985 feet. The shortest jump that qualified was 7.96 meters, meaning McCarter barely missed out. McCarter’s personal best jump came at the Olympic trials, where he lept 8.26 meters or about 27 feet, 1.25 inches. The Lampasas Soccer Association is seeking players for its boys’ 16U (born in 2007 and younger), 15U (born in 2008 and younger) and 13U (born in 2009 and younger) teams. LSA teams play in the Capital Area Youth Soccer Association leagues and travel to away games in the greater Austin area.

Lampasas golfer Kenlee Turner was named player of the year for the Diamond Division of the Beltway Junior Golf Tour. This is her third straight year to earn player of the year honors.

The Lady Badgers volleyball team is set to get the ball rolling on Monday with its first practices before the first official game on Aug. 9 in Harker Heights.

Season tickets for the upcoming Badger football season can be purchased through Tuesday by those who bought season tickets for the 2019/2020 season. An email sent to those ticket holders will explain how to renew the season tickets online.

The Cove House Classic 2021 bike race is scheduled for Aug. 14 at 300 West Avenue B in Copperas Cove.
