This is my final week with the Lampasas Dispatch Record as I am officially moving on to a new career. The last five years I have spent in Lampasas covering the local sports have been the best work experience of my life.

Over 600 runners take on the Toughest 10K in Texas

The Toughest 10K in Texas drew a record crowd during Spring Ho this year as around 650 participants lined up in front of Lampasas Middle School to take on the challenge.Top finishers overall in the 10K were Erik Grover of Lorena and Danielle Toms of Temple.The start time for the race was 7 a.m.

One angler brings in 50 fish at annual fishing derby

At the annual Kiddie Fishing Derby during Spring Ho, prizes were given out for the most fish caught overall, the most fish caught by age group, the longest fish caught overall and the longest fish caught by age group.One angler stood out above the rest when it came to the number of fish caught.

Cornhole and washer pitching draws big crowd

The Gavin Garrett Soccer Complex was filled with participants and spectators Saturday for the Spring Ho cornhole and washer pitching tournaments. People of all ages came out to compete, and the action did not disappoint.Results were as follows.
