Wilson Lee "Buddy" Stewart, 74, died on Feb. 13, 2022, at AdventHealth Rollins Brook in Lampasas.

Services will be held at School Creek Baptist Church on Feb. 19 at 2 p.m., with interment to follow at Smith Cemetery at School Creek. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Buddy was born on March 28, 1947, in Alpine to Bud and Noble Glaze Stewart. He grew up in Tarzan and graduated from Stanton High School in Stanton in 1965.

He attended Texas Tech University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in agricultural education in 1970. He began his teaching career in 1971 in Fluvanna.

Buddy took a break from teaching in 1975 to farm and ranch with his father.

In 1985, he started the agricultural education program at Greenwood ISD, where he taught until 2000. He then finished out his teaching career at Andrews High School, where he retired in 2006.

Buddy was a member of the Vocational Agricultural Teachers Association of Texas and served on its board of directors. He also judged many leadership contests and county stock shows throughout his career.

He married Karen Jones in 1971 in Fluvanna, and they were married for 50 years.

Buddy accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior as a teenager. Over the years, he attended Tarzan Church of Christ, Greenwood Baptist Church, First Christian Church in Synder and most recently School Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Stewart of Lampasas; his son, Jim Bob and wife Heather of Jacksonville, Texas; daughters Jessica McCrea and husband Ross of Sterling City, and Jonna Langford and husband Asa of Lampasas; grandchildren Maranda Lane and husband Jacob, Kate Magee, Braden and Reece Stewart, Cason and Carleigh McCrea, and Tate and Tye Langford; great-grandchildren Kyler and Lariat Lane; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.
