Robert Douglas Cummins, 79, of Lampasas died on Feb. 4, 2022 at BSA Hospital in Amarillo.
Robert was born in Lampasas on Oct. 13, 1942 to Robert W. and Lena M. Waldrop Cummins, and grew up here.
After graduating from Lampasas High School, he served in the Army National Guard, was a carpenter, a member of the Carpenter’s Union, and had served as chief of police in Hutto. He also had worked at Walmart.
Robert had a love for horses and enjoyed woodworking, baking and watching western movies starring John Wayne.
He is survived by his children Robbie Cummins and Julie Chandler; grandchildren Taylor Cummins and Courtney Tremanine; brother-in-law, Henry Valles; niece, Delores and husband Roy Stewart; nephews Simon and wife Jayme Valles, and Ray Anthony Valles, all of Lampasas; as well as numerous greatnieces, great-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Valles.
Visitation and a graveside service were held Feb. 10 at Oak Hill Cemetery. Rodney Andrews officiated the service, and Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his name.
