A memorial service for Robert Dulaney Blackburn will be held at 10 a.m. March 20, 2021 at Murphree Cemetery in Evant. He died Feb. 14, 2021 in Pasadena, Texas.

R.D. was born on April 19, 1938 in Hamilton to Jack and Vera Hopson Blackburn. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1956 where he was known as “Tea Bag.”

After graduation, he joined the Marines. He was honorably discharged due to an old injury. On Dec. 15, 1961, he married Sandra Kay Gee in Fort Worth.

R.D. was a commercial welder for many years. He also loved to draw. He drew beautiful scenery and beds he built from iron. He usually could be found at Storm’s Drive-In or Dairy Queen having coffee with friends.

R.D. was preceded in death by his sisters Evalene Blackburn and Donna Donahoo, and brother Jackie Blackburn.

His survivors include his wife, Sandra Kay Gee; sisters Betty Weeks (Gail), Teresa Cathey (Bobby) and Glenda Shinn (C.E.); brother Bill Blackburn (Cindy); sister-in-law Jimmie Blackburn; and many nieces and nephews.
