Carlos Jasso, 80, died on Feb. 14, 2021 at his family's home in Fort Worth.

Visitation will be held Feb. 26 from 6-8 p.m., with a rosary to start at 7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lampasas, with interment to follow at Senterfitt Cemetery in Lometa.

Carlos was born on Nov. 4, 1940 in Vicente Guerrero, Durango, Mexico to Agustin Jasso and Ventura Jasso Varela.

He married Olga Barrera in 1961 in Piedras Niegras, Coahuila, Mexico. They were married for 55 years.

Carlos and his wife raised their children in Central Texas, most of that time in Lometa. Carlos was active in the community and in his church congregation.

He was in the ministry of Permanent Deacon of the Catholic Church in the Austin Diocese. He served for St. Mary Catholic Church in Lampasas and Good Shepherd Church in Lometa. He also assisted many other churches throughout the diocese and traveled where the Lord called him. He worked many jobs in Lometa, finally retiring from the Lometa Independent School District where he received the “Hornet Pride” award for his work and support of the school.

Carlos enjoyed all sports but especially baseball, where he used his skills to coach his sons and many kids and adults in the community. Many still refer to him as "Coach Jasso."

He was preceded in death by his wife, Olga Jasso Barrera; two daughters, Martha and Irma; mother-in-law, Teresa Barrera; brother-in-law, Carlos Castillo; brothers Jesus, Alfonso and Pedro; sisters-in-law Primitiva and Rebecca; and nephews Pedro Jasso Jr., Carlos Castillo Jr. and Agustin Jasso Jr.

Survivors include his brothers Tirso Jasso of Kansas, Agustin Jasso of Dallas, and Julio Jasso of Dallas; sister, Agripina Jasso of Dallas; sons Joe Jasso of Dallas, Carlos Jasso and wife Rose Marie of Frisco, Guillermo Jasso and wife Gina of Piedras Niegras, and Mike Jasso and wife Senaida of Fort Worth; grandsons Joey Jasso and wife Angela Solis, Alex Witherspoon and wife Viviana, Carlos Jasso Jr., Juan Jasso, Javier Jasso, Ryan Jasso and Jake Jasso; granddaughters Samantha Narro and Destinie Mejia; great-grandchildren Xiomara, Joel, Jacob, Jahir and Jimena; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
