Carr sentenced in 27th District Court

A Lampasas County man entered a plea of guilty last week in a felony child sexual assault case. Michael Patrick Carr, 62, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child and received a sentence of five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division, the minimum sentence for the charge.

Badger Band eyes more success at area competition

The Lampasas High School Badger Marching Band will head to Pflugerville for the UIL 4A Area D Marching Band Contest on Saturday. Last week, the Badger Band earned a “Superior” rating at the regional competition in Burnet, which allows it to advance to area.

School choice bill heads to House floor

Texas lawmakers are continuing their discussions over creation of Education Savings Accounts, also known as school choice legislation. Last week during a special called third session of the Texas Legislature, the Senate passed Senate Bill 1 that outlines the criteria for school choice.
