Final weekend of general deer season

Sunday marks the end of the general season for white-tailed deer in Lampasas County. Dove season and the special late season for spikes and does continues into mid-January. See related story, page 10.

Common allergen fills the air

A cedar tree bursts with pollen near Kempner, signaling that “cedar fever” season is in full swing. Weather.com predicts a “very high” pollen count to continue at least through Jan. 8 as no rain is predicted locally.

Meeting on tap for new state park

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will host a public meeting Jan. 15 from 6-8 p.m. on new developments at Post Oak Ridge State Park.The meeting will be held at the Lampasas County Office Building conference room, 409 S. Pecan St. in Lampasas.

New speaking contest to debut

Youth Advocates for Agriculture will hold a Public Speaking Contest on Wednesday at the First Street Church of Christ fellowship hall.The event is sponsored by Lampasas County Farm Bureau.
