Architect unveils bold vision for downtown area along creek

Stuart Alderman, an Austin-area architect, provided a glimpse of how the Lampasas downtown district could blossom by utilizing mixed-use zoning.Alderman’s remarks came at Friday’s Forward Lampasas meeting at First Texas Bank.

Central Texas Aggie Moms recognized for 35 years here

The Central Texas Aggie Moms recently received a 35-year Certificate of Recognition in College Station at the Federation of Aggie Mothers Clubs Winter Meeting.The local club was started in 1990.One of the founding members was Carol Wright.

Diamondback Jubilee weekend is here

Hog sacking has proven to be a popular event at the Lometa Diamondback Jubilee. The festival kicks off with rodeo events tonight and Saturday. Other highlights are a chili cookoff, cornhole tournament, goat roping, food concessions, concerts both nights and, of course, rattlesnakes.

ARRESTS

The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened a couple of times over the last week, with Judge Debbie Garrett presiding over the criminal hearings.On March 23, a charge of evading arrest/detention with a vehicle was dismissed for Dennis Martinez of Lampasas.

Lometa ISD to add press box to athletic facilities

Lometa Independent School District’s Board of Trustees met Tuesday for a special planning meeting on the district’s new athletic complex.Board members approved a bid for construction of a press box to accompany the track and football field that were completed in 2023.
