Lometa council receives update on police chief

With only one item of business on the agenda, brevity was the name of the game for the Lometa City Council as it met in regular session at City Hall Monday evening.After voting unanimously to accept the December minutes and approve bills, the council moved on to its business item.

Dawn’s early light greets county residents

Bright orange clouds Tuesday morning near Nix contrast with a pale-blue sky at daybreak. Despite increased cloud cover this week, that area of the county continued a streak of 45 days without any measurable precipitation, as of press time Thursday.

Badger basketball ready to open district play

Lampasas varsity boys’ basketball will open the district season tonight at 7:30 p.m. with a game against Gateway in Georgetown. Gateway does not field a girls’ team, so the Lady Badgers will have their first district contest Friday night in Taylor.
