The burn ban is off for Lampasas County as of last week, and local and state officials are hoping for conditions to remain safe and wet. County Judge Randy Hoyer said the previous burn ban expired Jan.

Lometa Independent School District officials have confirmed they are taking action after a concerning conversation took place between two students regarding “school violence and firearms.” John Clawson, Lometa ISD campus behavior coordinator, said a statement was issued to parents and guardians after the incident Jan. 19.

Central Texas Water Supply General Manager Lee Kelley said repairs to the plant’s two lower intake pumps are advancing, and he expects one pump to be completed and operational within the next two weeks.
