Briggs school to celebrate 100 years

A 100-year celebration of the Briggs school building will be held Oct. 21-22. An invitation-only award ceremony and lunch reception are planned Oct. 21 at 11 a.m.

Problems arise with the Lampasas municipal water supply

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week for its only court setting scheduled this month. Judge John Gauntt presided over the day’s hearings. Defendant Rayphiel Porter received seven years’ deferred probation on a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity.

Infant in critical condition after dog attack

A Kempner infant is in critical condition after a family dog reportedly attacked the baby Tuesday night. In a statement released Thursday morning, Lampasas County Sheriff’s Department officials said they received a call at 10:38 p.m. Sept. 19 from a residence in the 100 block of Private Road 4951.

Killeen woman hospitalized following two-vehicle wreck Tuesday evening

A Killeen woman was hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday. Lampasas Police Department officials said the 39-year-old woman was transported by Hamilton County EMS to AdventHealth Central Texas in Killeen after her vehicle was T-boned in a Lampasas intersection.

Smith indicted in child sex crimes case

A Lampasas man was indicted last week on charges of sexual crimes against children.

Teen driver evacuated by helicopter after vehicle crash last week

A 16-year-old driver was taken by Care Flight to an area hospital after suffering injuries in a collision Friday afternoon. The incident occurred in the 2250 block of U.S. Highway 281 South.
