Annual Silver Classic 5K run, 3K walk registration available

The annual Silver Classic 5K Run and 3K Walk, organized by AdventHealth, is open for registration. The race is part of the Cen-Tex Race Series, which offers a variety of races throughout the year for runners. The event will take place March 17 at 9:30 a.m.

Pearl church to open auction bidding; proceeds help His Kids youth ministry

The annual Pearl Church of Christ Valentine auction is set for Feb. 11. Bidding will start after the worship service and close around 1 p.m. Items include glassware, Pyrex, several boxes of new athletic shoes, new combat boots, antiques, old Texas books and much more.

Kiwanis Club scholarship deadline approaches; two stipends to be given for higher education students

Lampasas Kiwanis Club will offer two $4,125 scholarships to Lampasas County high school graduates. The deadline for applications is Feb. 13. Students must be enrolled in higher education, which includes traditional college, trade school and technical degree programs.

Crash along U.S. 183 results in hospitalization

A motor vehicle accident involving a disabled truck tractor along U.S. Highway 183 in the early-morning hours on Wednesday led to the air evacuation of a 33-year-old male from Pasadena. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s report, the crash occurred at 4 a.m.

Farm Bureau announces its 2024 Photo Contest

The Board of Directors of Lampasas County Farm Bureau is sponsoring its annual Photo Contest, and the 2024 theme is “Farm to Table.” To be eligible, entrants must be a resident of Lampasas County, and the photograph must be taken within the time period of the contest -- between Feb. 1 and Aug. 1.

15-month-old child injured in weekend tractor accident

A 15-month-old Lampasas County boy was injured in a tractor accident Saturday. Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office authorities said they received an emergency call from a home on County Road 4818 Saturday afternoon after a tractor piece fell against a child.

Kempner man dies in house fire

A 58-year-old man perished in a structure fire that occurred Saturday evening at his Kempner residence at 1013 Cherokee Trail. In a news release from the city of Kempner, the man has been identified as Garry Allan Kelley. The Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 6:12 p.m. Jan.
