The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the March 27 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows.Cattle and calves:  Total cattle 338, compared to 330 last sale and 305 at this time last year.Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $5-$7 lower. Slaughter cows were steady; slaughter bulls were $3-$5 higher.

Wildflowers herald the season

The recent rains and sunshine across Lampasas County have coaxed a variety of wildflowers up from the soil. A drive in any direction will treat the eye to a blanket of color revealed in the many blossoms. These flowers were photographed east of Lampasas.

Lampasas woman killed in single-vehicle crash

A 21-year-old Lampasas woman was killed in a singlevehicle crash on Monday when authorities said she failed to stop at an intersection.Texas DPS Sgt. Bryan Washko said officers responded to the report of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of FM 580 East and County Road 3040 at 7:29 a.m.

Kempner council seeks county’s help for Hill Street repairs

The Kempner City Council spent a large portion of Tuesday’s meeting in executive session with city attorney James Parker over discussions on repairs to Hill Street.The council moved to seek assistance from Lampasas County to complete the repairs needed.During the council’s Feb.

Commissioners Court sets burn ban for eclipse period

With thousands of visitors expected to arrive in Lampasas County for the 2024 total solar eclipse event, the Lampasas County Commissioners Court on Monday OK’d a burn ban for the period of population influx.

Beef cattle herd numbers decreasing across Texas

According to David Anderson, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension economist in the Department of Agricultural Economics, U.S. beef cattle numbers are the lowest they have been since 1951.
