Remembering the flood

Expand your cilantro harvest and enjoyment

Cilantro is a favorite ingredient in guacamole, tacos, rice dishes and, of course, salsa. But as summer temperatures climb, the cilantro quickly goes to seed. This can be frustrating, but using all parts of the plant or growing a heat-tolerant cilantro-flavored substitute can help.

Lometa school board plans upgrades to CTE and athletic programs

The Lometa Independent School District Board of Trustees met Tuesday and held a planning session to discuss potential program and facilities improvements. Major upgrades proposed include a new track, which the district has discussed in the past, and a new Career & Technical Education facility that could include a show barn and updated ag shop.

GRAND JURY

A new Lampasas County grand jury was empaneled last week to begin the July 2022 term. In cases brought by Investigator Wayne Hilgenberg with the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office, the following indictments were issued: Lakoda Denay Mosak on a charge of possession of a controlled substancemethamphetamine on May 2.

No injures reported from Tuesday’s fire

Body
A structure fire was reported near downtown Lampasas Tuesday afternoon. Three agencies — Lampasas Fire Department, Lampasas Police Department and Kempner Volunteer Fire Department — responded to a fire in the 100 block of Main Street.

Lampasans enjoy a Dive-in Movie Night

Slightly cooler temperatures made for a great movie event last Friday evening. The Dive-in Movie Night was the last of two special evenings hosted at the Hanna Springs Swimming Pool during the summer. “Clifford, the Big Red Dog” was the featured movie. CHRIS MILES
