Lometa City Council plans $707K budget

Lometa held its final budget workshop of 2022, as the city’s budget must be posted for 30 days prior to approval by the City Council. City staff anticipates an increase in property tax revenue, though the proposed levy did not increase and will stay at a rate of $0.3227 per $100 valuation.

School officials propose $3.9 million budget, lower tax rate

The Lometa Independent School District Board of Trustees held a special meeting Thursday to approve its budget for the upcoming fiscal year. In addition, the board used the meeting to discuss other items of business, including breaking ground on the new competition track.

‘All on the same page’

STAAR testers at Taylor Creek Elementary School averaged better than they had the previous school year, according to documents released by the Lampasas Independent School District. A 2022 combined summary report showed students in math, reading, writing and social studies had a passing rate of 74% or higher in each subject, compared to the state’s average of 70% or higher.
