The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

DISTRICT COURT

Body
Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Jacob Robert Easter of Lampasas received 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, probated for 10 years, for violating a bond/protective order-assault/stalking.

GRAND JURY

The Lampasas County grand jury met Sept. 14 to continue its term.

Morris receives 30-year sentence

Body
A Temple man accused of firing at a game warden during a 2020 police pursuit received a 30-year sentence with a plea agreement. Robert Westly Morris II, 42, pleaded guilty to charges of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, and assault by threat, a third-degree felony.

Advisory boards seek applicants

The city of Lampasas is accepting applications for volunteer positions on city advisory boards. City officials said each year in September, terms for seats on several advisory boards expire, which can lead to open positions on various boards.

High school announces Homecoming Court nominees

The Lampasas High School 2022 Homecoming Court was announced earlier this week. From left, they are: Ethan Moreno, Luke Coonrad, Madison Roedler, Megan Flick, James Vasquez, David Flores, Ella Hairston, Megan Flick, Zayda Gorecki, JT Saucedo, Seth Norton and Nyla Long. The crowning of this year’s King and Queen will take place during halftime at tonight’s football game against Wimberley.

Annual artifact show deemed a success

More than 500 people made their way to the Lampasas County Show Barn for the annual Indian Artifact & Mineral and Gem Show Sept. 17. Hosted by Vision Lampasas, the event features items from native cultures, along with rocks and minerals.

Lometa ISD trustees approve policy changes

The Lometa Independent School District Board of Trustees met Monday to update policies needed for the 2022-2023 school year. In addition, upkeep items were approved, such as a new concrete ramp between both school buildings.

JURY DUTY CANCELED District Clerk Edith Wagner Harrison has announced that jury duty scheduled for Sept. 26 has been canceled.
