Community choir to present Good Friday Cantata

The Lampasas Community Choir will present a cantata entitled “Just Imagine ...” on Good Friday.The cantata will be performed at First Presbyterian Church on April 3 at noon and again at 6 p.m. Admission is free, and this event is open to the public.

Pearl church to hold fundraiser

The Pearl Country Church is sponsoring a fish fry fundraiser March 28 on the south side of the Evant square from noon until 3 p.m. to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation.Sorry Boys BBQ will serve as official cooks. Fish and all the fixings will be available by donation only.

More players added at Community Bridge

Community Bridge welcomed two newcomers, Robert Main and Sam Golden, on March 9. Seven tables of bridge players participated.Debra Hull of Copperas Cove came in first, Margaret Oberender placed second, and Martha Barrett was third.There were no slams bid and made.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge Debbie Garrett presiding over the day’s hearings.Defendant Victor Luna Villanueva of Copperas Cove pleaded guilty to a charge of violate a bond/protective order-assault/stalking.

Statewide school choice initiative kicks off

More than 100 students zoned for the Lampasas Independent School District have submitted applications for the Texas Education Freedom Accounts program for the 2026-27 school year.The TEFA program is a new statewide school choice initiative, established by Texas lawmakers via Senate Bill 2 in 2025.
