Blood drive draws good numbers; donors reach milestones

Lampasas Community Blood Drive coordinator Wanda Lang reported on the success of last week’s American Red Cross blood drive, held for the first time over a two-day period. Seventy-two people participated, donating 77 units of blood, Lang said.

A local property could set a record for Lampasas County if it sells anywhere near its asking price. Until the listing of the Colorado River Ranch – an exotic game recreational property – no other land parcel has been listed for close to its $60 million price tag.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Vanessa Rayleen Sanchez of Lampasas entered a plea of guilty and was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

May 6 school, city election filings now complete

After a month-long filing period, candidates are set now for the May 6 general elections in Lampasas, Lometa and Kempner. The municipal positions up for election in Lampasas include those of Mayor TJ Monroe, Place 1 Councilman Zachary Morris, the late Place 2 Councilman Randy Clark and Place 6 Councilman Herb Pearce.
