VFW donates new flags to sheriff’s office

On Wednesday, the Lampasas VFW presented the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office with an American flag and a Texas flag to keep inside the jail. Representatives from the sheriff’s office and the VFW are, from left to right, Deputy Raymond Barrera, Administrator Fonda Rhoades, Rudy Rogers, Chris Afolf, Gerald Green, Roger DeWeese, Sheriff Jess Ramos, Sgt. Waste collection event set for Saturday

For the second year in a row, Kempner City Hall will host a hazardous waste collection event in conjunction with the Central Texas Council of Government’s Solid Waste Advisory Committee. The event is open to Lampasas County residents and those in the surrounding Central Texas counties of Bell, Coryell, Milam and San Saba.

Burnet County official booked in Lampasas jail on felony charge

Burnet County Judge James Neil Oakley was booked at Lampasas County Jail on Thursday after an indictment earlier in the week on multiple criminal charges. On March 7, Oakley was indicted on a third-degree felony charge of tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair, two charges of abuse of official capacity – one a Class A and one a Class B misdemeanor – and one charge of official oppression, a Class B misdemeanor.

March sales tax allocations trend upward

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has sent sales tax rebates to the cities, counties and special-purpose districts that levy these local taxes. The allocations for March are based on sales made in January by businesses that report tax monthly to the state.
