Lometa L-M Garden and Civic Club held its annual April Flower Show on April 17 at the garden club building. About 20 members and guests were present for the flower show and business meeting.

Lampasas Community Church’s new building at 1601 E. Fourth St. is ready for use. The congregation hosted its first worship service on April 2, after having met for years at a smaller building on East Third.

The Lampasas Dispatch Record captured awards in numerous categories in the 2023 South Texas Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest. Awards were presented last week in Boerne, at the regional press association’s annual convention.

Kline Whitis Elementary School celebrated the hard work of its third-, fourth- and fifth-graders with a STAAR Pep Rally on April 21. Younger students made encouraging posters and banners, and they cheered for the upper grades as they ran through the tunnel to music provided by the LHS Drumline and yells from the high school cheerleaders. The campus enjoyed a fun time to help testers get ready for their big game day.

Kempner Volunteer Fire Department will hold its 43rd annual barbecue and auction fundraiser on Saturday at the main station, 315 S. Pecan.

Spring physicals that will be good for next school year will be offered at Lampasas High School next month. Students-athletes who need a physical to participate in sports may get one from 8-10 a.m.
