Thunderstorms rolled across parts of Lampasas County Friday night. While lightning and thunder prevailed for quite awhile, not all areas recorded moisture from the storm. Few raindrops fell on the west side of the city, but areas north of Kempner saw close to an inch of rain. National Weather Service predicts more thunderstorms could roll through the area later this week.

A miscalculation has delayed progress on House Bill 1613 with the Texas Legislature. In testimony to the House Ways and Means Committee on April 10, County Judge Randy Hoyer labeled HB 1613 the “most important legislation facing Lampasas County.” The bill written by State Rep.

Results of the May 6 municipal and school elections were released Saturday night just before 8 p.m., showing the Lometa Independent School District bond proposition passed by a large margin. Election officials reported the total number of ballots cast as 628, with 414 ballots cast during early voting and 208 cast on Election Day.

Providence Christian Academy will close out its inaugural year in Lampasas with a special program for the public. Students will offer a production of C.S. Lewis’ famed story “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.”

Lampasas Community Garden will host “Happy Hour at the Gardens” on May 11 from 5-8 p.m. The fundraiser will feature wine tastings from local vineyards, hors d’oeuvres and barbecue fare.

LTX BBQ Fest cookoff results have been released. The cookoff is sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance.

Lampasas Public Library is hosting many events in the month of May to celebrate “Get Caught Reading” Month. An escape room will be offered on Thursdays and Fridays the first three weeks of May with fun challenges for participants.
