Everyone enjoys reading a good book

Candidate forum set for April 3

Forward Lampasas and the Lampasas Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center will host a Lampasas City Council candidate forum on April 3 at the former middle school cafeteria on Western Street.The event is set to begin at 6 p.m. and should last close to two hours, organizers estimate.

March sales tax revenues take a dip in area cities

After a month in which all area cities posted a sales tax percentage gain, revenues recorded in March tell a different story. Only about half the entities saw increases this period.

The city of Lampasas will offer its brush chipping service during the month of March. Residents may place brush by the curb, and crews will come by during the designated week for each quadrant of town to remove the brush. No lumber or trash should be included.

As a devout foodie, I had to make the trip to Georgetown after watching star chef Gordon Ramsay turn a “nightmare” of a local British pub into a true taste from across the pond.

Wildfire risk high today

Lampasas County is under a fire weather watch today, as meteorologists predict a critical fire threat for the Central Texas area.A fire weather watch is in effect from 7 a.m. Friday morning through 7 p.m.

Commissioners OK new tax abatement guidelines

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court adopted changes to its tax abatement guidelines on Monday after several battery storage and solar companies expressed interest in coming here.County Judge Randy Hoyer said there has been contact made regarding the two potential Precinct 1 projects.

Abraham George, chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, is scheduled to speak Tuesday at 6 p.m. to the Texas First Conservative Alliance in the conference room, 409 S. Pecan St., in downtown Lampasas.

Ninety-day burn ban in place

During Monday’s regular meeting of the Lampasas County Commissioners Court, the commissioners agreed to a 90-day burn ban set to last until June 8.The decision didn’t come without discussion among commissioners who are eager to give residents the chance to burn when weather conditions settle down.
