Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Phillip Edward Ramirez of Lampasas had a plea hearing March 8 and was sentenced to 12 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for driving while intoxicated-third or more.

Friends of Madison Roedler staged a prayer gathering last Friday on the courthouse square. The Lampasas High School graduate was injured in a head-on collision March 2 in Coryell County and remained hospitalized.

Researcher says animals react to solar events

Lampasas County residents who own livestock or pets should be aware animals are likely to have different reactions to the upcoming total eclipse. Although little research has been done on the matter, a study led by North Carolina State University based on the 2017 total solar eclipse provides insight into how animals behave during totality.
