City officials have temporarily closed the Lampasas Multi-Service/Senior Center following reports of structural issues.

Lampasas Assistant City Manager Ryan Ward said city officials were notified mid-week of some concerns with the building, located at 901 South Live Oak Street.

“The building officials went over there last week. There was some concern about the structural integrity of the building,” he said.

City building officials located and photographed an issue with the studs along one wall inside the building.

“We’ve reached out to a structural engineer. We wanted to err on the side of safety, so we shut down the building,” Ward said. “We could have something shifting in the structure. … We’re waiting on an expert opinion.”

Ward said the engineers will examine the structure early this week, and in the meantime, the facility has been closed and its operations relocated.

“The meal service is ongoing at another facility,” he said. “We’re hoping it’s just temporary.”
