The General Federation of Women’s Clubs 36 Club Lampasas Chapter met on Jan. 11 at First Presbyterian Church.

The new Family Dollar & Dollar Tree in Kempner have been selected as a Night Sky Friendly Business by the Lampasas County Friends of the Night Sky. Family Dollar & Dollar Tree opened in October as a midpoint shopping spot for area residents, according to store manager Krystal Waters.

Junior Madi Giffin and sophomore Alexander Thorne are the first Lampasas High School Badger Band members to achieve All-State honors since 2019. The pair qualified at area competitions held at Robinson High School on Jan.

The annual Painted Chair fundraiser has returned to Lampasas Public Library, with special recognition to a late community member. The fundraiser has been renamed the Katherine Mezger Painted Chair Event to honor one of the former members of the Library Advisory Board.

Lampasas VFW Post Commander Chris Adolph, Senior Vice Commander Bill Piotrowski and Nancy Keck, of the VFW Auxiliary, all were on hand Wednesday to present two students from Learning Steady Academy with scholarships.

The Browning Community Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at 10 a.m. Certified Master Gardener Willard Horn will present “Birds of Our Backyard.” Regular meetings of the garden club are held the third Tuesday of each month at the Kempner Volunteer Fire Department training building, 315 Pecan St.
