Lampasas tennis wins tight match over Belton team

After multiple matches that came down to tiebreakers, the Lampasas tennis team won 12-7 over the Belton Tigers. This marked the first match this season where the temperature was under 90 degrees, head coach Kenneth Peiser said.

A back-and-forth, high-scoring first half turned into a low-scoring defensive struggle in the second half. The Badger defense pitched a shutout in the final 24 minutes of the season-opener to finish off a 40-21 win over the Fredericksburg Battlin’ Billies last Friday night.

Lady Badgers win consolation bracket at tournament

Last week, the Lady Badger volleyball team played in a tournament in Rockdale on Thursday and Saturday. After a successful showing on the final day, they were named champions of the consolation bracket.

The next time the Badgers take the field it will be the real deal, as they host Fredericksburg Friday night.They finished their final tune-up last Thursday when they scrimmaged against China Spring to get those final few practice reps in before the beginning of the 2024 season.

Last Friday, the tennis team hit the road to Ellison, but the match was cut short by some unexpected lightning. “The kids had been playing for about two hours, and we got a warning of lightning within 10 miles of us,” head coach Kenneth Peiser said.
