Cub Scouts to hold downhill derby in March

Cub Scout Pack 100 is inviting the community to its derby race on March 27. Dubbed the Cub Mobile, the race will feature several packs competing for the title of “Fastest Cub-Mobile.” Awards also will be given based on cart decorations.

Retired Teachers set to host children’s book donation drive

In conjunction with Public Schools Week March 1-5, the Lampasas County Retired Teachers Association will hold a drive-through book donation event March 3 from 10 a.m. to noon at 201 W. First St. in Lampasas.

Atmos to work with customers on gas bills

Atmos Energy officials acknowledged that customers may have concerns about how the recent extreme weather could affect their natural gas bills. In the near-term, bills will not include any of the unusually high gas prices from the historic winter storms, they said.

Catholic church to offer food pantry

St. Mary Catholic Church will hold its drive-through food pantry distribution Feb. 26 from 10:30 to noon. This will be the only pantry date available for February. Groceries are available for anyone in Lampasas County in need. March food pantry distributions are scheduled for March 12 and March 26.

City says electric wholesale rates unchanged by recent ice storm

Wholesale electric rates for city of Lampasas customers will not change because of the recent deep freeze, the city announced Monday. Although high electric use during extreme cold will cause residents’ bills to increase, the rate per kilowatt will remain the same, city officials said.
