The Lampasas City Council will hold a town hall March 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the former middle school cafeteria, 103 N. Western Ave. City officials seek to receive comments from residents about the February ice storm’s disruption to electric and water service so officials can develop possible solutions.

St. Mary Catholic Church will hold a drive-through food distribution March 26 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The food pantry will offer large bags of non-perishable canned and boxed groceries, and it plans to have eggs, meat, bread and produce available as well.

No injuries reported from Kempner 18-wheeler vs. train crash

A truck driver walked away with no injuries after his 18-wheeler made contact with a moving train, police say.  The incident happened shortly before 1 p.m. at a unmarked railroad crossing adjacent to U.S. 190 in Kempner on Monday. The crash caused mild traffic in the area.

Fire destroys house on Snell Drive

A house fire Monday morning on Snell Drive displaced four people and killed three family pets — two dogs and one cat, officials said. Among the people displaced were two children. The family is staying with other family members, Fire Marshal Ronnie Withers said.

Lampasas City Council approves bid for West Third Street improvements

Improvements on West Third Street might take as few as 45 days to complete, according to city staff.  During the March 8 Lampasas City Council meeting, Assistant City Manager Rickie Roy updated council members on the status of the 1100 block of West Third Street.

The Classics at the Classic gathering March 6 at Storm’s Drive-In had a good turnout, organizer Sharon Carrigan said. Classics at the Classic is a regular gettogether for vehicle enthusiasts. Carrigan shared a before-and-after story about one vehicle that was at the recent gathering.

Lampasas County participates in Save Our Seniors initiative

The Texas Division of Emergency, the Department of State Health Services and the Texas Military Department have announced that 34 counties are participating in the second week of the Save Our Seniors COVID-19 vaccine initiative. Lampasas County is among that group. Gov.
