Bringing gospel music to Lampasas

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Michael Clayton Robinson of Belton pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a vehicle and bail jumping/failure to appear-felony.

ARRESTS

Bill would criminalize use of fireworks against peace officers

State Rep. Brad Buckley (R-Salado) has announced the filing of House Bill 2366, which would create criminal penalties for the use of fireworks against law enforcement officers. It also enhances current penalties for the use of laser pointers against peace officers.

Lometa City Council votes to buy tractor

The Lometa City Council convened March 5 in a special called meeting to discuss the purchase of a 1987 Ford 304B diesel tractor including a shredder, loader and box blade for $7,000. The council voted to purchase the tractor, which will be paid for with the city’s reserve funds.

Council picks architecture firm for Hostess House upgrades

The Lampasas City Council is moving forward with plans to revive the historic Hostess House. During its regular meeting Monday night, the council voted unanimously to hire Austin-based Reliance Architecture to draw up plans for upgrades to the limestone building.

Lampasas ISD to continue mask requirement

Lampasas Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Chane Rascoe announced that face masks wil continue to be required for both students and staff. Last week, LISD sent out surveys to all 670 staffers asking for their opinion on removing face masks in schools.
