Fire damages Lometa school room; house burns in separate blaze

Lampasas Fire Marshal Ronnie Withers said a fire Saturday at Lometa Public School has been ruled “accidental,” and the damage is repairable. A few hours after the school fire, however, a separate fire destroyed a house not far from the campus.

Two candidates vie for Lampasas City Council Place 1 seat

Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa will hold May 1 elections for several city government positions. No election will be necessary for the Lampasas and Lometa school districts, however, as there are no contested school board races.

COVID-19 IMMUNIZATION CLINIC A drive-through COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be offered Wednesday at the Kempner Volunteer Fire Department station at 315 S. Pecan St. in Kempner. The clinic will be administered by the National Guard. The minimum age is 18. An appointment is required.
