County’s burn ban off at press time

County Judge Randy Hoyer has lifted the county’s burn ban until May 7 at 5 p.m. As a result, at press time Thursday, controlled outdoor fires were allowed outside Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa city limits. The judge may put the ban back in effect if weather conditions create a wildfire risk.

The report from the March 31 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. CATTLE AND CALVES Total cattle 458, compared to 446 last sale and 222 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $5-$7 higher.

Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa will hold May 1 elections for several city government positions. No election will be necessary for the Lampasas and Lometa school districts, however, as there are no contested school board races. Lampasas voters will see a contested mayor race.

COVID-19 IMMUNIZATION CLINIC A drive-through COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be offered Wednesday at the Kempner Volunteer Fire Department station at 315 S. Pecan St. in Kempner. The clinic will be administered by the National Guard. The minimum age is 18. An appointment is required.
