Kempner Volunteer Fire Department holds barbecue, auction

Kempner Volunteer Fire Department's main annual fundraiser brought in at least $47,550, Chief Dan Hause said. He added that monetary donations often arrive after the day of the barbecue and auction, meaning that total funds raised are likely to be even higher.

LHS theater group heads to state

The Lampasas High School Theatre Department’s performance of “Saint Frances of Hollywood” by Sally Clark has advanced to the state level in the University Interscholastic League One-Act Play competition. The group will perform at Davenport High School in Schertz at 5:30 p.m. on April 29.

CLASS REUNIONS

Class of 1970 The Lampasas High School Class of 1970 will meet for a reunion April 30-May 1. The April 30 gathering The April 30 gathering will be at 6:30 p.m. at Bill’s Burgers. On May 1, a tour and time for socializing is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. at the Keystone Star Hotel. Then, at 6:30 p.m.

Band Boosters to hold fundraiser

The Badger Band Boosters will hold a Tunes-n-Taters dinner and concert May 1 from 5-7 p.m. at the high school cafeteria. This event serves as a scholarship fundraiser. A loaded baked potato dinner with dessert will be served.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Christopher Michael Chambliess of Royse City had his charge of driving while intoxicated prosecuted as a Class A misdemeanor under Texas Penal Code Section 12.44(b).

GRAND JURY

Lampasas County grand jury met last week as part of the January term. Investigator David Thorp of the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office presented information that resulted in indictments against: Tyler Cole Azar on a charge of burglary of a habitation-intend to commit an assault on Feb. 28.
