The report from the April 21 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 414, compared to 483 last sale and 214 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $5-$7 lower. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were $1-$3 lower.

Kempner Volunteer Fire Department firefighters Tracie and Steve Martin serve meals during the department’s annual barbecue and auction fundraiser on Saturday. KVFD Chief Dan Hause said at least $47,550 was raised toward a new fire station at the intersection of FM 2313 and CR 3210.

EARLY VOTING Early voting ends April 27 at 7 p.m. for the May 1 municipal elections in Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa. The county elections office recorded a total of 260 Lampasas and Kempner votes through Friday. Lometa recorded 31 votes through Friday.
