Fire reported in vacant mobile home

A pinhole in a gas line behind a stove caused a fire inside a vacant mobile home Sunday afternoon, Lampasas Fire Marshal Ronnie Withers said. The Lampasas Fire Department responded to a call about a mobile home on fire shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday. The mobile home was on Private Road 4350.

Lampasas ISD to offer summer meal program

Thanks to a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, summer meals are available from the Lampasas Independent School District at no cost to children and teens ages 18 and younger, and to enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old. Adult meals are available as well at $2.

Historical marker dedication planned Saturday

The Lampasas County Historical Commission will host a dedication on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. for the county’s newest historical marker, which honors William Thomas Campbell. The marker is at Hanna Springs Elementary School, 603 East Avenue F.

Sylvia Tucker park hosts Memorial Day event

Through a rain shower that turned into sunshine, more than 150 people paid homage to fallen servicemembers at Sylvia Tucker Memorial Park in Kempner on Monday. Memorial Day is a federal holiday that honors the military personnel who died in the performance of their duties.

CITY POOL HOURS Hancock Springs Free-Flow Swim Area will begin its regular-season hours on Saturday. The Hancock pool generally is closed Monday through Wednesday; open from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; and open Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The Hanna Springs pool will open June 8.
