Kiwanis Club peach sale underway

The Kiwanis Club is offering peaches for sale. A 22-pound box is $50. Proceeds will be used to fund local scholarships The deadline to order is June 18. Pick-up is from 9-11 a.m. June 26 at the Hostess House parking lot, 1406 U.S. Highway 281 South.

Lometa graduate earns law degree

John Wayne Brooks of Bend earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock on May 15. He graduated Summa Cum Laude. While in law school, Brooks served as comment editor of the Law Review.

Frequent rain over the past few weeks has kept the Lampasas area wet but without the flooding seen in other parts of the state. This week’s forecast from the National Weather Service calls for several days of mostly sunny weather, with high temperatures generally in the 90s and lows in the 70s.

The 163rd Methodist Camp Meeting, hosted annually by the Bend United Methodist Church, has been set for June 10-13 at the Methodist Campground, 1082 County Road 432 in the Chappel Community of San Saba County. Services each evening will be preceded by a complimentary meal at 6 p.m.
