Dispatch Record names new sports editor

Hunter King has been hired as the new sports editor for the Lampasas Dispatch Record. The 24-year-old graduate of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor comes to Lampasas by way of Killeen and the Killeen Daily Herald, where he spent several years as a general assignments and sports reporter.

Lampasas man arrested after alleged shooting on Sunday

One man was wounded and another was arrested as a result of an alleged shooting late Sunday night. A Lampasas Police Department news release stated that at about 9:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South Chestnut Street to what had sounded like an argument followed by gunshots.

The sales tax allocation for the city of Lampasas climbed to $252,670 this month – a figure that is 30% higher than what it collected in July 2020, when sales activity already had begun rebounding after mandatory business closures due to coronavirus concerns.
