KEMPNER CITY COUNCIL The Kempner City Council will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers inside City Hall, located at 12288 East U.S. Highway 190. The council will consider adopting a budget for the 2021-2022 fiscal year and will consider approval of a city volunteer policy.

The Browning Community Garden Club has changed the location of its monthly meetings, starting with the Sept. 21 gathering at 10 a.m. Members will meet in the training building behind the Kempner Volunteer Fire Department on Pecan Street, just off East U.S. Highway 190 in Kempner.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Kenneth Leon Mask of Copperas Cove entered a plea of guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

Lampasas man charged with capital murder

A Lampasas man is being held in Burnet County Jail without bond on capital murder charges.  The arrest stems from an investigation after Burnet County sheriff’s deputies found two unresponsive individuals Aug. 30 inside a home at The Overlook subdivision in Horseshoe Bay.
