Kempner council approves budget; tax rate stays the same

A unanimous vote Tuesday by the Kempner City Council adopted a $452,623 budget for Fiscal Year 2022, with no increase in the city’s property tax rate. The budget and tax rate approvals are a first under the tenure of City Manager David Williams, who began working in that capacity in February.

Southern New Hampshire University has released its summer 2021 list of honor roll students. Full-time students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.70 and above are eligible for President’s List recognition. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must accumulate a GPA of 3.5-3.699.

Sales tax rebates stay strong

The monthly sales tax allocations to the city of Lampasas remain high, as 2021 cumulative figures show Lampasas is running 22% ahead of last year’s receipts through three quarters. Lampasas has the highest year-to-date gain of any entity in the neighboring counties.

The report from the Sept. 15 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 728, compared to 527 last sale and 835 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Slaughter cows were $2-$4 higher, and slaughter bulls were steady.
