Riparian, stream ecosystem program on tap for Lampasas River watershed

The Texas Water Resources Institute will host a free Riparian and Stream Ecosystem Education Program from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in Lampasas for area residents interested in land and water stewardship in the Lampasas River watershed.

Campus celebrates Johnny Appleseed Day

Kempner names interim police leader the department’s new chief

Heriberto “Eddie” Rodriguez, who has served as interim Kempner police chief since June, has been selected to fill the position permanently. The Kempner City Council voted unanimously on the promotion during its meeting Tuesday evening.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the Sept. 29 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 305, compared to 725 last sale and 580 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 lower. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were $1-$3 lower.

Lampasas County Farm Bureau to hold its annual convention Tuesday

Lampasas County Farm Bureau will host its annual convention Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the youth livestock show barn, located at the intersection of North U.S. Highway 183 and North U.S. Highway 281. A meal will be provided, and a business meeting will be after the meal.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened Monday in a special setting, with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Christian Ladelle Rodriguez of Gatesville entered a plea of guilty and was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

Lampasas seeks to fill vacant fire marshal position

The search for the city’s next fire marshal continues, Fire Chief Jeff Smith told the Dispatch Record. Longtime fire marshal Ronnie Withers retired from the Lampasas Fire Department on July 8. He had been with the department for 19 years.

Commissioners Court ratifies new subdivision regulations

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court approved its subdivision regulations Monday. The vote was unanimous. Since January, the court has worked on the updated subdivision rules, designed to aid in growth and development across the county.
