Fundraiser aids fire department toy drive

The second annual First Responders Spaghetti Dinner and Toy Drive was held Sunday at the Lampasas Fire Station. More than $600 was raised, and toy donations were collected that will be distributed at Christmastime.

Lampasan to be tried in child sex assault case

A 23-year-old Lampasas man is set for jury trial in mid-November on charges of child rape. Zachary Austin Kelley could face a jury trial in Lampasas County 27 th District Court on Nov. 15. Jury announcement is to be made on Nov. 5. Kelley was indicted Sept.

Calvery case still in pre-trial stage

A jury trial has been set for a man accused in a 2005 child rape case, court officials said. The trial for Kasey Shannon Calvery, 42, of Midland, has been set tentatively for Dec. 13 in 27 th District Court.

In odd-numbered years, Texans go to the polls in November to consider ratification of proposed state constitutional amendments that passed during the most recent legislative session. Eight proposed amendments are on the Nov. 2 ballot. The early-voting period is Oct. 18-29.

BEND FUNDRAISER Bend Community Center will be the site for the annual fundraiser on Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. A fish fry with all the trimmings will be served by donation only. A cake auction and silent auction also will be offered. Face masks are optional.
