Christmas Day temps hit record for Lampasas County

Christmas Day saw recordbreaking temperatures, with a high of 81 in Lampasas. Representatives of the National Weather Service say the warm trend will continue into the new year.

The Dec. 15 Lampasas Cattle Auction report: Cattle and calves: Total cattle 904, compared to 651 last sale and 558 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 lower. Slaughter cows were $1-$3 lower; slaughter bulls were $1-$3 higher.

City Manager Finley deGraffenried has announced the hiring of a new assistant city manager for Lampasas. Ryan Ward, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, accepted the position and will start his employment here at the beginning of January, city staff told the Dispatch Record on Monday.

The new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, has made its way to Lampasas County, according to county officials. As of noon Dec. 23, Texas had more than 100,000 active cases COVID-19 — with 60 active cases countywide.
