Pct. 1 constable to step down from post next week

The resignation of Precinct 1 Constable Dennis James will be discussed during the Lampasas County Commissioners Court meeting Monday morning. James, who took office January 2021, submitted his letter of retirement to County Judge Randy Hoyer Feb. 14. He intends to serve through Monday.

Ranchers, fire officials concerned about effects of winter drought

With clear skies drying up the land, drought conditions this winter in Lampasas County could lead to hay shortages and grass fires for local farmers and ranchers. Mickey Edwards, District 8 member of the Texas Farm Bureau Board of Directors, grows crops and keeps cattle in the county.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Lampasas man indicted on felony charges in October. The Lampasas County 27 th District Court issued a capias order for Todd Tyrone Miller, 57, after he failed to appear for a court hearing Feb. 11. Miller was indicted Oct.

EMS calls increased last quarter

In the last quarter of 2021, Acadian Ambulance experienced an increase in service calls which caused longer than usual response time, a representative told the Lampasas County Commissioners Court at its meeting last week.

Jail demo process continues

After discovering more asbestos than expected, the contractor for demolition of the old county jail said the work will take another week to complete. On Feb. 11, county officials said they expected demolition of the building on East Fourth Street would happen Feb. 21 or Feb. 22.
