Kempner to hold hazardouse waste collection event this weekend

The city of Kempner will hold its first-ever Household Hazardous Waste Collection event Saturday at City Hall, 12288 U.S. Highway 190 East. The event is free to area residents. The Lampasas County Commissioners Court approved the collection event in July.

EARLY VOTING ENDS Feb. 25 marks the last day registered voters can cast a ballot early in the Republican or Democratic primary. Early voting takes place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Lampasas County Elections Office, 407 S. Pecan St. Suite 102 in downtown Lampasas.

Student captures big win

Lampasas FFA member Alyssa Foust won Champion Hampshire Ewe recognition at the San Antonio Livestock Show. She then competed against the other breeds and secured the Supreme Overall Champion of the show and a $15,000 scholarship.

Dedication of Library Park set for Saturday

The Library Park will be the setting Saturday at 10 a.m. for a dedication ceremony and sculpture unveiling. A reception will follow in the library’s Foundation Room. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held inside the library.

Headstone unveiling planned at Oak Hill

The repaired headstone of sheriff Albertus Sweet, who served Lampasas from 1873-1878, is to be unveiled during a short program March 7 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. Sweet was killed Dec. 9, 1881 in Belton while assisting the Bell County sheriff with an arrest.
