Motorcycle crash sends woman to hospital

A 65-year-old Killeen woman was airlifted to a nearby hospital after she collided with a deer. On Sunday at approximately 9:16 p.m., Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a motorcycle crash in the 12000 block of East U.S. Highway 190.

Annual magazine continues to grow, improve

The 2022-2023 Guide to Lampasas magazine is included inside today’s edition of the Lampasas Dispatch Record. This 88-page premium project is the largest undertaking so far and is one of the most popular publications of the newspaper.

Residents want school board to deny benefits for solar farm

A second shot at possibly gaining a solar farm in the county has some residents concerned. The Lampasas Independent School District Board of Trustees held a special meeting April 13 to discuss a proposed solar project. More than 80 residents were in attendance.

EARLY VOTING Early voting continues through Tuesday for the May 7 elections. On ballots are the Lampasas and Lometa city council races, the Lampasas school board races and two statewide constitutional amendments. Voting is conducted at the Lampasas County Elections Office, 407 S. Pecan St.

An April 19 story about the Lampasas school district’s consideration of tax incentives for a solar farm project listed an incorrect date for the next school board meeting. The trustees will meet May 2 at 6 p.m. for their regular monthly meeting.

In early April, more than 400 eager shoppers made their way to the downtown courthouse square for the 2022 opening of the weekly farmers’ market. Among those shoppers were Copperas Cove residents Adam and Mary Courtright.

The report from the April 20 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 644, compared to 343 last sale and 414 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were $1-$3 higher.

Three days of rodeo competition and plenty of good eating will be available as part of the Riata Roundup Rodeo & LTX BBQ Fest. The event takes place Thursday through Saturday at the 580 Sports Complex in west Lampasas. Action Thursday will kick off the riata with a jackpot open barrel race at 8 p.
